Ronald Norris Turner Photographic Collection

About this collection

The "Ronald N. Turner Photographic Collection,” represents a young man’s interaction with his environment through the medium of amateur photography during the 1930s and 1940s in Greater Vancouver. The value of this collection is that Mr. Turner not only provided excellent information about his photographs in the form of writing and diagrams on the backs of his photos, but also that he captured many images that are significant to Vancouver's local history, such as those taken during the building of the Lions Gate Bridge in 1938 and the Royal Visit of King George and Queen Elizabeth to Vancouver in May of 1939. Ultimately this collection is a personal journey that captures more than just significant events on a calendar. Through this collection one can glimpse the personal life, friends and world of it's creator, Ronald "Norrie" Turner.
