In 2011, members of the University of British Columbia (UBC) Herbarium and Botanical Garden visited the broad area of Spences Bridge, B.C., to collect plants, with a focus on native B.C. specimens. After collection, these specimens were dried & pressed, and are now permanently housed within the UBC Herbarium at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum.
Collection forays have been rare in many parts of the province, especially in recent years. The specimans from the 2011 Spences Bridge foray will therefore contribute to the body of British Columbia plant knowledge, provide a more complete picture of changing communities over time, and allow tracking of ecological trends and variation.
