About this collection

In 1960, graduates students at the University of British Columbia formed the Graduate Student Association (GSA). Two years later, the GSA moved to the Thea Koerner House Graduate Student Centre (GSC). At this time, both organizations remained separate entities. This changed in the 1982 when they combined to make the Graduate Student Society (GSS).

This collection aims to show some of these changes that have occurred throughout the years with these three organizations in selected policy, bylaws, and constitution documents. Sourced from the University Archives housed at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, we have endeavoured to show the depth and breadth of organization and concern.

We hope that this collection can be useful for current and future graduate students involved with the GSS. Searching is provided to examine documents from a variety of years and their treatment of topics; full-text searching is also possible for specific bylaws or topics.
