The Art of Idleness is a small collection of images representing a selection of content captured across twelve student notebooks whose notes span over four years.

 

These sketches, drawings, and doodles were made in idleness and range in subject from the whimsical to the absurd. They are pure escapism. They are not purposeful and they are (certainly) not professional, and therefore occupy the grey line separating what might be called art from what might be called archives.

 

This is not an exhaustive collection - rather, it is a small sampling.

 

 

Selection Criteria

 

 

The field of potential works for inclusion in the present collection numbers in the hundreds, if not the early thousands. Selection was made on the highly relative basis of “interesting” and “representative” pieces. The creator seems a bit of a mycophile, and as such several mushroom-related images made their way into the early collection; the same can be said of certain video games.
